• What are DNA probes?

  Short, single-stranded DNA length that has a label attached to make it identifiable
• What are the two types of probe?

  Radioactively labelled

  Fluorescently labelled
• What is the process of locating genes?

  1. DNA probe is produced DNA sequencing
  2. DNA probe is formed by fluorescently labelling the fragment
  3. PCR produces many copies of the DNA probe
  4. Probe is added to single-stranded DNA fragments
  5. If they have the gene the probe will bind to complementary bases on the donor DNA
