movements of the earth

• earth moves in three ways:

  • rotates
  • travel around the sun
  • moves through the milky way galaxy
• rotation - movement of the earth on its axis
• revolution - movement of the earth around the sun
• earth completes its rotation once every 24 hours
• earth completes one REVOLUTION in 365¼ days
• spring equinox - the Earth's axis is not tilted toward or away from the sun, resulting in nearly equal periods of daylight and darkness. (21st of march)
• autumnal equinox - 23rd of September , day and night are equal
• June 21 or 22 - start of summer
• December 21 or 22 -start of winter
