Enzymes

• enzymes are a type of catalyst that ensure that the processes in the body are efficient and fast
• digestion would take a long time to break down food without enough enzymes
• enzyme denaturing occurs when there are changes from optimal temperature of pH levels ( alkaline or acidic)
• When enzymes are denatured they lose their shape and structure and thus no longer fit into their substrate
