Black concentrations camps: In 1900, Kitchener (commander in chief) ordered the separation of black and white Boers into different concentration camps.
White concentration camps were provided with tents, water and rations whereas black camps were expected to build their own shelters and work for food.
Out of 130,000 black civilians in these camps, 20,000 died.
