• human rights are the rights and freedoms that all human beings are entitled to

• human rights are important as christians believe we were all made in the image of god

• many christians think that more should be done to promote human rights in the world, they will joing groups that support human rights such as amnesty international
• christians believe that god created everyone to have equal worth, sin has divided people and we should try and make the world a better place

• prejudice is pre-judging someone based on a characteristic
• discrimination is actions based on prejudice
• homosexuals are attracted to the same sex
• homophobia is prejudice because of someones sexuality
• some christians teach that practising homosexuality is a sin as the bible teaches that it is wrong
• traditional roman catholic churches and church of england will not marry homosexuals

• some christians believe that the bible reflects the culture of the time it was written in
• some christians believe that homosexuals should have the right to marry. quakers will marry same-sex couples
• jesus taught "love thy neighbour" he would love all people regardless of their gender, race or sexuality
• all people are made in the image of god - god creates people to be different and christianity should celebrate difference and not condemn it
• sexism is prejudice because of someones gender

• in the roman catholic church only men are allowed to be leaders 


  in the church of england women can be vicars and priests
• traditional churches think that men should be in authority to women 


  modern churches argue that men and women are both created in the image of god, they say that the biblical teaching reflects the culture of the time
• freedom of religion and religious expression are human rights
• some people think that religious ideas are private and should not expressed in public
• some people think that religious diversity is good for society, we should be tolerant of different beliefs and cultures
• there have been incidents when some christians believe that their right to express their religious beliefs has been limited - wearing a cross necklace at work
• freedom of religious expression is the right to show your religious beliefs and the right to say what you believe
• positive discrimination is allowing discrimination if it is to address an injustice for example, employing people of a certain race to represent the ethnic diversity in a country. this is illegal in the uk
• positive action is taking action to remove injustice, removing the barriers that may lead to discrimination
• god created everyone - the diversity of races is part of his plan
• racism is a sin, we should treat everyone with respect, christians are taught to "love thy neighbour"
• christians will actively promote racial tolerance and understanding - anthony walker foundation
• examples of how a religious person might fight racism is by prayer, speaking out, educating others, political action
• eve was created as a "helper" for adam - sexism
• people trafficking is buying and selling humans because they are vulnerable or poor
• exploitation of the poor can be people trafficking or fair pay
