Cards (14)

  • Parts of the chapter 3 entitled methods of research and procedures
    • Research design
    • Respondents
    • Sampling procedure
    • Research instrument
    • Data gathering procedure
    • Statistical treatment of data
  • Research methods - are the various procedures, schemes, algorithms, etc. use in research. All the methods used by a researcher during a research study are termed as research methods. They are essentially planned, scientific, and value neutral
  • Research design - this refers to the discussion regarding the types or methods of research used in the study.
    • Considered as the "blue print" of the study" (de guzman, 2007)
    • Research design is a blueprint of scientific study
    • Guides the collection, measurement, and analysis of data
    • A plan or course of action which the researcher follow in order to answer the research question or solve the research problem
  • 4 types of research design
    • Historical design
    • Descriptive design
    • Experimental design
    • Case study design
  • Descriptive design - the study is focused in present condition (what is)
  • Experimental design - the study is focused in the future (what is)
  • Case study design - past, present and future.
  • Historical design - History defined as the "branch of knowledge concerned with past events, especially those involving human affairs"
  • Historical research or method - is a systematic and critical inquiry of the whole truth of past events using the critical method in the human understanding and the interpretation of facts which are applicable to current issues and problems
    • Is a process of selecting the area or topic to write the history about, collecting data about events that occurred in the area or about the topic
  • Historical design - the study is focus in the past (what was)
  • Research methodology - is a systematic way to solve a problem. It is a science of studying how research is to be carried out.
  • Research methodology - It is also defined as the study of methods by which knowledge is gained. Its aim is to give the work plan of research
  • Descriptive design - may be defined as a purposive process of gathering, analyzing, classifying, and tabulating data about prevailing conditions, practices, beliefs, processes, trends, and cause and effect relationship and then making adequate and accurate interpretation about such data with or without the aid of statistical method.
  • Descriptive design - the study focuses on the present condition. The purpose is to find new truth.
