  • the Greeks took over Israel in 332BCE and became the new foreign rulers. after that in 170BCE the Greeks took over the temple and made a law that the Jews had to follow the polytheistic Greek religion or they would be killed
  • David was a successful king. He made Jerusalem the capital f his kingdom. Davids son Solomon then became king. Solomon decided to build a large temple in 950BCE, which his people would use as a place of worship. At the heart of the temple was the Ark of the covenant. This was a chest containing two tablets of the ten commandments. This was the most important symbol of the Jewish faith and a sign of gods presence on earth
  • The roman invasion started in 63BCE. In 70CE the Jews rebelled against the romans. The romans destroyed the temple. The only part that was left was the western wall which is also known as the wailing wall. After the second rebellion in 135CE the romans exiled the Jews from Jerusalem. This spread the Jews throughout the world today.
