  1. turn objective lens to LOWEST POWER
  2. .use coarse knob to move stage up
  3. move stage downwards slowly to see specimen come into focus
  4. turn objective lense to higher MAGNIFICATION to whatever the question is

  5. use fine knob to get a clearer image
• to get a better view of FOV when finding diameter, refocus by changing obj lens power and recalculate the fov
