Native and Colonial Policy

• Bias towards white settler colonies gave them privileges that many other colonies did not have due to their large white populations.

• In other settler colonies small white local elites were used to facilitate British rule such as in Kenya.
• Sometimes policy involved befriending one group against another. In East Africa the Massi were awarded with cattle and tokens of office in comparison to the Kikuyu who received nothing.
