  Act One: IG is very blunt about Eva and wants the Birlings to feel remorse for what they have done

  Act Two: IG does his best to make Mrs. Birling feel remorse for what she has done

  The Inspector describes Eva Smith to be "a pretty..", but immediately switches to emotive language and highlights the tragic death of Eva in gruesome detail.

  Just before he leaves,The Inspector highlights that if men (the upper class) do not learn lessons they will be taught..."
• "We are members of one body. We are responsible for each other."


  Just before he leaves, The Inspector highlights that everyone is responsible for each other, as they are all one
• But each of you helped to kill her. Remember that. Never forget it.


  Inspector Goole talks to everyone as a whole, commanding them to "never forget" that they helped to kill Eva.
• "You have children. You must have known what she was feeling. And you slammed the door in her face"


  Act 2: MB won't even give in to sympathy tactics
