Extension of Mendelian Genetics

Cards (8)

  • Offspring probability is dividing the number of times and event occurs by the total number of opportunities for the event to occur.
  • Incomplete dominance, the phenotype os heterzygous organism can be blended between the phenotypes of its homozygous parents.
  • Codominant inheritance, both alleles are expressed equally in the phenotype of an individual with two different alleles at one locus
  • Polymorphasim is one gene having many alleles, but each individual can only have 2 alleles, one on each homologous chromosome.
  • Environmental factors such as nutrition, height, weight, disease, mutagen and life expectancy can affect the phenotype.
  • An addictive effect is continuous or quantitive. Like Skin color, weight, milk yield, wool length, IQ, height are all controlled by genes.
  • Additive affect is the total number of producing alleles tanging from a specific range.
  • In a normal distribution, the more genes that are involved, the higher number of phenotypic diseases.
