  A change in climate over time, encompasses global warming but is broader and not just temperature-related.

  The long-term warming of the planet.

  Any land that is useable for growing crops.
• What is desertification?

  The transformation of land once suitable for agriculture into desert by processes such as climate change, deforestation or overgrazing.

  The interruption in a river's natural flow.
• What is urban sprawl?

  The spreading of urban developments into areas at the city boundary.
• What are 3 ways that a country can reduce its carbon emissions?

  Stop investing in non-renewable sources of energy, stop importing and exporting goods that aren't needed, promote the use of renewable energy e.g electric cars.
• What is MOSE?

  A program in Venice to reduce the flood impacts on the city. It consists of rows of mobile gates that open and close to stop the water levels rising too high. This may not be worthwhile in the long term if water levels keep rising.
