Scientific status

• Almost since the beginning of psychology at the end of the 19th century it has been debated weather the subject is a science or not
• It’s often referred to as the “science of behaviour“ but the word science has a specific meaning, and there has been a lot of debate as to weather psychology meets the criteria to be classed as a true science
• Science can be defined as ”the systematic study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world, through observation and experiment.
