• Iodine Solution to test for starch
• Benedicts test for sugars
• Biuret test for protein
• Sudan III test for lipids
• Benedicts solution turns from blue to green, yellow or brick red
• Iodine solution turns from brown/orange to black
• Biuret test turns from blue to purple
• Sudan III separates the mixture creating a bright red coloured layer on the top
• Hazard: Iodine is an irritant to the eyes
• Hazard: the chemicals in Biuret solution are dangerous
• Hazard: in the Benedicts test the water bath is hot and could burn
• Hazard: Sudan III solution is flammable so keep away from bunsen burners
