International Agreements

• LOCARNO - Fr and Ger represented by their foreign ministers Briand and Stresemann
• LOCARNO - 1st December 1925, in Locarno, Switzerland
• LOCARNO - The two enemies agreed to work together peacefully, Ger accepted the TofV
• LOCARNO - Other countries like Br and Italy also signed and each country agreed to not go to war with eachother;if a country broke the treaty the others would help the country invaded
• LOCARNO - Germany suggested the treaties and were not part of the LofN
• LOCARNO - Ger trying to become a peaceful nation?

  Relations between countries especially Fr and Ger improved - paved way to Ger joining the LofN. However,the League should be leading the way on important agreements
• KELLOGG - BRIAND PACT - included 65 countries including Germany, France and the USA
• KELLOGG - BRIAND - August 27th 1928 in Paris
• KELLOGG - BRIAND - Countries agreed war would not be used to solve disputes between them.
• KELLOGG - BRIAND - League was not involved as Ger and USA were not members
• KELLOGG - BRIAND - LofN was not involved so made it look like it was a place to talk not for actual solutions and this damaged its reputation
