• disadvantages of chinas influence in Africa- many projects use Chinese labour (doesn't benefit local africans), concerns that China will control ports and areas, concerns that china is taking resources and manufacturing good without transferring skills (new from of imperialism)

• positives of three gorges dam- protects 1.5 million hectares of farmland + towns, provides hydroelectric power, decrease emissions of CO2 and SO2, river is now easily navigable for shipping, power supports manufacturing industry
• negatives of three gorges dam- millions displaced for reservoir, dam caused many landslides, reservoir is heavily polluted, 1/3 fish killed
• superpowers- countries that are powerful and have a lot of influence
