• 7. Tell me how you’d check the direction indicators are working. You don’t need to exit the vehicle.

  Explain you’d operate the switch/ or hazard warning switch (turn on ignition if necessary), and then walk round vehicle (as this is a ‘tell me’ question, you don’t need to physically check the lights).
• 15. Identify where the windscreen washer reservoir is and tell me how you would check the windscreen washer level.

  Open the bonnet and look inside to check the level. No maximum or minimum markers. Check every month- if required top up with windscreen washer fluid and water.
• 16. Show me how you would check that a horn is working

  Use control, don't turn the engine on, off-road only
• 17. Show me how you would check the parking brake handbrake for excessive wear, and make sure you keep control of the vehicle.

  Apply the footbrake firmly. Then apply the parking brake/handbrake so when it is fully applied it secures itself and it is not at the end of the working travel.
• 18. Show me how you would set the demister controls to clear windows- both front and rear screens.

  Set all relevant controls- the air direction, the temperature and the fan.
