  • Separation Anxiety Disorder
    • Intense fear and anxiety about being parted from the people that they are emotionally attached to, such as a parent or loved one, or from their home
    • Recurrent and excessive distress about anticipating or being away from home or loved ones
    • Constant, excessive worry about losing a loved one
    • Constant worry that something bad will happen
    • Repeated nightmares about separation
  • Social Anxiety Disorder

    • Everyday interactions cause anxiety, self-consciousness and embarrassment
    • Involves fear of being scrutinized or judged negatively by others
    • Worry about embarrassing or humiliating yourself
    • Blushing, sweating, trembling or having a shaky voice
    • Intense fear or anxiety during social situations
    • Expectation of the worst possible consequences from a negative experience during a social situation
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

    • Features a pattern of unwanted thoughts known as obsessions
    • These obsessions lead you to do repetitive behaviors, also called compulsions
    • Fear of being contaminated by touching objects others have touched
    • Doubts that you've locked the door or turned off the stove
    • Intense stress when objects aren't orderly or facing a certain way

    • Sudden episode of intense fear that triggers severe physical reactions when there is no real danger or apparent cause
    • Typically begin suddenly, without warning
    • Shortness of breath or tightness in your throat
    • Sense of impending doom or danger
    • Fear of loss of control or death
    • Rapid, pounding heart rate
    • Trembling or shaking
    • Chest pain
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
    • A condition that's triggered by a terrifying event — either experiencing or witnessing it, especially when you come across reminders of what you went through
    • Upsetting dreams or nightmares
    • Severe emotional distress or physical reactions
    • Difficulty maintaining close relationships
    • Being easily startled or frightened
    • Self-destructive behavior
    • Irritability, angry outbursts or aggressive behavior
  • Specific Phobias
    • Phobia comes from the Greek word "phobos," which means fear
    • An extreme fear of objects or situations that pose little or no danger but make you highly anxious
    • Feel like throwing up especially around blood or injuries
    • Sweating, rapid heartbeat, tight chest or trouble breathing
    • Feel intense fear, anxiety and panic right away when exposed to or even thinking about what causes your fear
    • Some examples are Trypophobia, Arachnophobia, etc.

    • An umbrella term to describe multiple types of mental health conditions that involve a phenomenon called psychosis
    • Severe mental health disorders that cause abnormal thinking and perceptions
    • Persons with a psychotic disorder often lose touch with reality and may experience symptoms like delusions and hallucinations

    • Psychotic disorder due to another medical condition
  • Schizophrenia
    • Characterized by delusions, hallucinations, disorganized thoughts and speech, unusual behavior, and withdrawal
  • Delusional Disorder

    have false beliefs involving real-life situations. For example, a person with the disorder may falsely believe that someone is plotting against them or that a partner is being unfaithful.
  • Brief Psychotic Disorder
    • This condition is defined by an episode of psychotic behavior that lasts for less than one month
  • Substance/medication
    • Certain drugs, including not only illicit drugs such as hallucinogens and stimulants but also prescribed medications such as steroids and antiepileptic drugs, can trigger short-term or long-term symptoms of psychosis
  • Psychotic disorder due to another medical condition
    • Some medical conditions can cause hallucinations and/or delusions. This can result from conditions like traumatic brain injury or dementia.
