    • A 10cm° measuring cylinder
    • Biuret solution
  • Step 1
    Add a few drops of Bluret's reagent sodium hydroxide and copper (i) sulphate) to the food
    sample in a test tube.
  • Step 2
    1. Shake the solution to mix and wait for a few minutes.
  • Step 3
    1. If protein is present, the solution turns from blue to purple.
  • risks
    copper sulphate is poisonous
    •  and sodium hydroxide (corrosive).
    •  . Wash immediately if comes into contact with skin and wipe away any spills to surfaces.
