  • Did tony martin have the right to use the amount of force that he did?

FOR - Some individuals may say that Tony Martin's actions were condemnable and were within reasonable force. This may be true due to the burglars, Brendon Fearon and Fred Barras, shown to have brought a burglars tool kit into Tony Martin's house. This shows that they had intention and were prepared to burgle his house.
  • Brendon Fearon appeared in Tony Martin's documentary to give his side of the story, however it was proven that Fearon only did the documentary because he was getting paid to do it, meaning, he might try and switch the story up and change key information. If he wanted his side of the story to come across so much, he wouldn't have requested to be paid.
  • Fred Barras was only 16 when this incident happened and had already committed shoplifting and a few burglaries, nothing major but was already starting to commit crimes. Although there was the only two burglars, someone else drove them, Darren Bark, who got sentenced to 2 and a half years. Darren Bark had already burgled Tony Martin's house.
  • He also drove them 70 miles away from their home area, again showing intent so that the police in their area wouldn't have any suspicion of them as at that time police forces in different counties didn't speak to each other. In the documentary, Tony Martin stated that they asked to be shot, and if they didn't want any trouble, even though they thought it would be an empty house, they have still stepped onto someone else's property without any permission.
  • On the way to Tony Martin's house, with Darren Bark driving, they got stopped by the police for general checks, which could arguably be wrong on the police's behalf because if they had checked the boot of the car, they would've seen the burglars tool kit and could've stopped this whole thing. Having him been burgled 50 times before I would say that Tony Martin absolutely had the right to use the amount of force that he did, due to someone else stepping on to his property without permission and he was just trying to protect his property.
