  • Why is footpath erosion a problem
    Valuble land and seeds can be lost. Habitats can be destroyed by people not staying on the designated footpaths
  • Soloution to footpath erosion
    All walkers must stay on designated footpaths. Also the Upland Path landscape restoration project was a 10 year project to repair 'erosion scars' on the landscape. They used stone pitching which involves digging stone into the the ground to form good solid footfalls (Spent over £900,000)
  • Why are water sports a problem
    Wash from fuel spills erodes the shore. There is overcrowding, disruption to wildlife and noise
  • Soloution to water sports
    Limiting noisiest and most damaging sports and introducing speed limits for boats (e.g.: on Windermere it is 18kmph)
  • Why is traffic congestion a problem
    It causes a lot of queues and these towns are not built for traffic, people also park on the grass verge, causing damage
  • Solution to traffic congestion
    • Building dual carrigeways, cattle girds, speed limits and nearby lorries kept of scenic roads

  • Why are house prices rising a problem
    Holiday homes aren't occupied for majority of the year so locals can't buy them

    Taxing tourists, building more houses and increasing council tax on part time residents

    There aren't enough jobs all year round as jobs peak in the summer

    Encourage people to go all year round. This could be done by creating halloween/christmas attractions
