What are the three types of wire in a plug

What does the live wire do 
Carries the current to the appliance and is held at a voltage of 230V (all household appliances)
What does the neutral wire do?
Completes the circuit
What does the earth wire do? 
It is a safety wire to stop the appliance becoming live
What does a fuse do?
prevents current overload in a circuit because there is a piece of wire in the fuse that melts if it gets too hot to break the circuit
