    a plot is when causal connections are foregrounded; related events make up the main story. The plot makes up the causality of a story.
    Ex: "'The king died and then the queen died', is a story. 'The king died, and then the queen died of grief', is a plot."

    any chunk of text that is told at a point which is earlier or later than its natural or logical position in the event sequence.

    Flashbacks, retrospection.
  • What are prolepses?
    Flash-forwards, anticipation, recounting of a "future" event

    show a long pause within a thought or trailing off and never finishes a thought (looks like ... )
