Any basic discrete device or physical entity in an electronic system used to affect electrons or their associated fields
ElectronicCircuit
A structure to direct and control electric currents that perform some useful function. It is composed of individual electronic components, such as resistors, transistors, capacitors, inductors, diodes, led and integrated circuit
PassiveDevices
They contribute no power gain (amplification) to a circuit or system
They have no control action and do not require any input other than a signal to perform their function
They have no "brains"
Capacitors
It stores electrical energy in the form of electrostatic charge
Resistors
They are used mainly to control current and voltage within the circuit (Measured in Ohms)
Inductors
They are charged with a magnetic field and when that field collapses it produces current in the opposite direction
They are used in Alternating Current circuits to oppose changes in the existing current
Active Devices
They are capable of controlling voltages or currents and can create a switching action in the circuit
They have "smarts"
Diodes
They are basically a one-way valve for electrical current, letting it flow in one direction (from positive to negative) and not in the other direction
LEDs
They are simply diodes that emit light of one form or another
Transistors
They perform two basic functions: 1) Act as a switch turning current on and off, 2) Act as an amplifier
Integrated Circuits (ICs)
They are complex circuits inside one simple package
Automatedtesting
Using an automation tool to execute your test case suite
Debugging
The process of finding and resolving of defects that prevent correct operation of computer software or a system
Inspection
An organized examination or formal evaluation exercise which involves the measurements, tests and gauges applied to certain characteristics in regard to an object or activity
Platformtesting
A set of specifications defining test methods for diverse components of computer and electronic system to be marketed as complete product
Prototyping
The activity of creating prototype of software applications, a draft version of a product that allows you to explore your ideas and show the intention behind a feature
Passivetesting
Software testing technique that observes the system without interaction
Active testing
Involves interaction with the system
Dynamictesting
A kind of software testing technique using which the dynamic behavior of the code is analyzed
In-circuittesting
An example of white box testing where an electrical probe tests a populated printed circuit board (PCB), checking of shorts, opens, resistance, capacitance, and other basic quantities which will show whether the assembly was correctly fabricated
Electriccurrent
A flow of electric charge, often carried by moving electrons in a wire
Conductors
A substance in which electrical charge carriers, usually electrons, move easily from atom to atom with the application of voltage
