'One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest' is a novel by Ken Kesey written in the 1960s. it is set in a mental hospital which is a microcosm of society and a metaphor for the oppression Kesey saw in society. The ward has a clean, subjugated atmosphere and is a place to 'fix' people who do not conform to society's repressive rules.
