    • Information - Providing information about events and conditions in society and the world
    • Correlation - Explaining, interpreting and commenting on the meaning of events and information
    • Continuity - Expressing the dominant culture and recognizing subculture and new cultural developments
    • Entertainment - Providing amusement, diversion and the means of relaxation
    • Mobility - Campaigning for societal objectives in the sphere of politics, war, economic development, work and sometimes religion

    Convincing others to change their point of view, agree to a commitment, purchase a product or service, or take a course of action
  • Arts and entertainment

    • The arts is outlined as "the various branches of creative activity, such as painting, music, literature, and dance"
    • Entertainment is "the action of providing or being provided with amusement or enjoyment"
    • Films, broadcast products and forms of new media are intrinsically artistic for they are products of people's ingenious minds
  • Avenues in entertainment communication

    • Media and design arts - This track uses media communication for creative expression, as manifested when "artists and photographers use visual mediums as their tools in the same way writers ,poets and publishers use written mediums"
    • Performing arts - This track allows individual artists to pursue acting and other kinds of performance. Performing artists are themselves the means of creative expression, without a dependence on an outside medium
    • Production and managerial arts - This track is applied when technical organizational and managerial knowledge and skills to bring arts ,media and entertainment to the public
  • News and information

    • Media and communication provide access to information that is necessary for citizens to obtain relevant information so they can make informed choices rather than act with wrong information or out of ignorance
    • Media is used to carry out social change by encouraging the public involvement through advocating issue and transferring knowledge ,skills and technologies to the people

    Communication outlets or tools used to store and deliver information or data. The term refers to components of the mass media communications industry, such as print media, publishing, the news media, photography, cinema, broadcasting (radio and television), digital media, and advertising
  • Organizing advocacy and mobilization

    • Communication can be a means of engaging centers of power and influence to encourage them to "move" with the times and to lend their influence to progressive directions
    • Awareness and reception toward policies and advocacies take place among audiences especially when communication is consciously used to campaign and forward such policy actions

    • Media is also an alternative source of knowledge as it utilizes various components in getting messages across
    • The process of facilitating learning, or the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, morals, beliefs, and habits. Educational methods include teaching, training, storytelling, discussion and directed research

    • Performed in order to assess if communication campaigns on education and advocacies are effective
    • Can be quantitative, where methods such as surveys and pre and post test are used
    • Can also be qualitative, where methods such as in depth interviews are used to understand the sentiments of the community
