  • What is a strength of the Asch study on conformity?
Asch's study had a standardised procedure, and controlled extraneous variables, this means it can be repeated to test it for reliability
  • What is a limitation of the Asch study on conformity?
The study involved deception as participants were told it was a study on visual perception. It also put participants under stress through the disagreements they had with others. This is possibly causing them psychological harm.
  • What is a strength of the Chatard et al study on gender stereotypes?
This study has real life application as women are still less likely to go into scientific careers due to them underestimating their achievements - therefore if we change the gender stereotypes we can change attitudes
  • What is a limitation of the Chatard et al study on gender stereotypes?
Self-reports are not always reliable due to the issue of social desirability. This means that participants may lie to put themselves in a positive light.
  • What is a strength of Zimbardo's Stanford Prison Experiment?
Realism - most of their conversations were about the prison conditions, none of them talked about it in the terms of the study.
  • What is a limitation of Zimbardo's Stanford Prison Experiment?
Ethical concerns - there was a lack of informed consent, psychological harm was also caused to some of the prisoners who showed signs of psychological distress
