must use gutter frame as pts has wrist problems - gutter frame puts pressure on forearms instead
Technique same as Zimmer frame
advantage of Gutter frame allows pts not to have to lift up frame, but only works on smoot surfaces
make sure to turn in half circles
try to get heel strike with injured leg
try to look forward, not down at feet

bring frame forward, followed by the bad leg, then the good leg

safety checks:
wheels must be stable
ferrules must have good grip on it and securely on the legs
the poppers must be visible and are stable
the poppers at same level on each leg
the shafts shouldnt have any dents, may collapse if someone puts their weight on it
sticker saying its been confirmed for safety (same as crutches)
the handles mustnt have any cracks

need to ask pts if theyre in pain and if theyre nauseas/dizzy
check if pts have taken their medication - make sure theyve taken their pain relief so theyre not in pain doing the rehab
check what the pts are in for
check their situation last night
check observation chart
check history of presenting condition
check relevant past medical history - e.g. RA will need gutter crutches
there should be around 90 degrees of elbow flexion, without there being too much lumbar flexion on the gutter frame
