    1. Catholics come together as a community to celebrate the resurrection. This unites Catholics within a parish, and on a global scale
    2. Catholics honour Jesus at the last supper by receiving eucharist. Jesus said "do this in memory of me"

    • Some Protestants have less structured worship with unset hymns and extempore prayers -> allows worship to come from the heart
    • Most Catholics believe that structured mass with formal prayer aids worship the most. They also believe in transubstantiation

    Protestants believe you should be able to encounter God anywhere, pilgrimage is unnessecary
    Protestants wouldn't go to Lourdes or Walsingham, as they dont place as much importance on Mary as Catholics do

  • Two importances of Catholic mission and Evangelism:

    Follows Jesus' teaching to "make disciples of all nations"
    Strengthens induviduals faith by spreading the word to others and helping them know Gods greatness.

    2. spritual strength to the dying person to be at peace
  • Three features of Holy Orders:

    -Men are ordained as Priests
    -Candidate is anointed in special oil called chrism
    -Candidate recieves the grace and authority to administer sacraments

    allows spontaneous worship which can be used in times of crisis
    doesn't require the worshipper to be in a church or with a priest- flexible
