Consists of the glomerulus and the glomerular capsule
Glomerular capsule
Expanded end of the nephron, looks like a double-walled cup that surrounds and almost completely encloses the glomerulus
Renal tubule
A tube about 5 cm long, begins with the proximal convoluted tubule, then has a straight portion before the loop of Henle, then the distal convoluted tubule, and finally joins into a collecting duct
Loop of Henle
A hairpin bend in the renal tubule, with a straight section leading into the bend and another straight section leading away from the bend
Distal convoluted tubule
The second coiled section of the renal tubule
Collecting duct
Joins the distal convoluted tubules of several nephrons and opens into the renal pelvis
Renal pelvis
Shaped like a funnel and channels fluid from the collecting ducts into the ureter
