A Christmas Carol

• Solitary as an oyster. Scrooge was dull on the outside but still had a jewel inside of him that could spark his redemption.
• The ghost of christmas past shows scrooge how he used to be happy with his family when he was younger.
• Fred is Scrooges nephew who invites him over for dinner every year. He is friendly and generous. Fred represents what Scrooge could become if he changed his ways.
• Scrooge's mother died when he was very young, she was kind and loving towards her son. She wanted him to have a better life than herself.
• Scrooges father died when he was young so he never got to say goodbye
• Scrooge is like Jacob Marley, he has to change or be doomed forever.
• "I wear the chain I forged in life"
• Scrooge's sister Fan is kind, loving and caring towards her brother Bob Cratchit. She tries to convince Scrooge to change his ways by telling him about Tiny Tim
• Belle was Scrooges fiancee. They were deeply in love until Scrooge became obsessed with money. Belle left him because she couldn't stand being around someone so selfish all the time.
• Scrooge has no friends or relationships because he doesn't care about anyone except himself. This makes it hard for him to change his ways.
• Tiny Tim is Bob Cratchits youngest child. He has a limp and is sickly. Tiny Tim symbolises innocence and purity. His death would mean that Scrooge will never change his ways
• Bob Cratchit is Scrooges clerk, he works at Scrooges office all day long. Bob is poor and can barely afford food for his family. His youngest child Tiny Tim is sickly and may die soon.
• Bob Cratchit is Scrooges clerk. Bob is poor but always tries to make the best out of his situation. His wife is sickly and they have many children. They are a symbol of poverty during this time period.
• Bob cratchits son Tiny tim is sickly and has a limp. His father loves him very much and wants him to live so he can have a better life than himself. This makes Scrooge realise that he needs to change his ways because he doesn't want anyone else to suffer like Tiny Tim does.
• Marleys chains represent that we are responsible for our actions and they will follow us into death.
• Tiny Tim is Bob Cratchets youngest child. Tiny tim is ill and may die soon. The fact that tiny tim might die is a reminder to Scrooge that he needs to change his ways.
• The Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come takes Scrooge into the future where he sees himself dead and alone. This makes him realise that he needs to change his ways.
• Tiny Tim dies at the end of the story which causes Scrooge to feel guilty for not changing his ways earlier. It also reminds us that we need to cherish our loved ones while they are alive.
• Mrs Cratchit is Bob Cratches wife. She loves her husband and children dearly. Mrs Cratchit is a caring person who looks out for others. She reminds us of our own mothers or grandmothers.
• Tiny Tim is Bob Cratchets youngest son, he is ill and may not survive. The Ghost of Christmas yet to come visits tiny tim because he symbolises hope and innocence which will disappear if Scrooge doesnt change his ways.
• Bob Cratchit is Scrooges clerk. Bob is poor but still manages to keep his family together. Bob is loyal to Scrooge even though he doesn't treat him well.
• Tiny Tim is Bobs youngest child. Tiny tim is sickly and weak because their family can not afford proper medical care. Despite this tiny tim remains optimistic about life.
