  • The governing body of barristers is the Bar Council.
  • The Bar Standards Board is responsible for regulating the Bar.
  • Their main role is advocacy (presenting cases in court).
  • They share offices called Chambers with other barristers, and the sets of Chambers are managed by the clerk.
  • Barristers work according to the ‘cab rank’ rule. They are obliged to accept any work in a field in which they claim to be competent to practise.
  • The four Inns of Court are Inner Temple, Middle Temple, Gray’s Inn and Lincoln’s Inn.
  • The Inns provide accommodation, education and provide activities, must dine 12 times.
  • Barristers are regulated by the Bar Standards Board.
