Neurons

Cards (3)

  • Sensory Neurone
Detects sensations at receptors, releasing action potential to travel the myelinated axon, converting to a chemical signal at the synapse
    • Structure: Receptor, Myelin sheath, Axon, Cell body, Synapse
  • Relay Neurone

After synaptic transmission, new action potential is formed, sending signal to CNS and along axon to motor neurone
    • Structure: Dendrites, cell body, axon, pre-synaptic terminal
  • Motor Neurone

Detects signal from relay neurone via synaptic transmission, passes action potential down myelinated axon to stimulate the effector
    • Structure: Dendrites, cell body, myelin sheath, axon, neurofibril node, effector
