Ketones

• The functional group of a ketone is R-C=O-R.
• Ketones cannot be further oxidised.
• Ketones can be reduced to secondary alcohol using lithium aluminium hydride (LiAlH4) in dry ether. Room temperature and pressure is required for this reaction.
