Finchley
told me it’s exactly the same port your
father
gets from him
There’s a lot of wild talk about possible
labour
trouble […] Don’t worry. We’ve passed the
worst
of it
… the Titanic […] absolutely
unsinkable
some people say that war is
inevitable.
And to that I say -
fiddlesticks!
… as if we were all
mixed
up togther like bees in a hive -
community
and all that
nonsense
If you don’t come down
sharply
on some of these
people,
they’d soon be asking for the
earth
We were having a nice little
family
celebration
tonight. And a
nasty
mess you’ve
made
of it now…
… when this comes out at the
inquest,
it isn’t going to do us
much
good
I’ve got to
cover
this up as
soon
as I can
There’ll be a
public
scandal
Perhaps we may look forward to the time when
Crofts
and
Birling’s
are no longer
competing
but are working
together
… we don’t
guess
- we’ve had
experience-
and we
know
there’s a
fair
chance I might find my way into the
next
honour
list
More
money
to spend and time to
spare
than I had when I was
Eric’s
age
… a man has to mind his own
business
and look after
himself
and his
own
It’s one of the
happiest
nights of
my
life
Your
father
and I have been
friendly
rivals in
business
for some time now
Germans
don’t want
war
…
clothes
mean something
quite
different to a
women
I’d give
thousands
- yes,
thousands
Probably a
Socialist
or some sort of
crank
… the
famous
younger
generation
who know it all. And they can’t even take a
joke
-
