  • Specific performance

    A court order instructing the other party to undertake some specific act, such as selling a piece of land
  • Injunctions
    A court order prohibiting a person from taking a particular action or requiring them to take a particular action
  • Damages
    Any amount of money awarded by a court to compensate a claimant who has suffered a loss or damage as a result of a wrong for which the defendant is responsible
  • Ratio decidendi
    The reason for deciding and is part of the judgement delivered at the end of a case

    A remark or opinion and not officially part of the ruling, nor precedential for other cases

    The custom of the courts to stand by previous decisions, so that once a point of law is decided upon by a court, then the same law must be applied to future cases with materially similar facts
