Concentration of Solutions

Cards (5)

  • Concentration
    Can be Measured in g/dm³
  • Finding the concentration of a solution
    1. Know the mass of the substance dissolved
    2. Know the volume of the solution
    3. Divide mass by volume to get concentration in units of mass/volume (e.g. g/dm³)
  • Calculating concentration in g/dm³

    • 30 g of sodium chloride dissolved in 0.2 dm³ of water, concentration is 150 g/dm³
    • 15 g of salt in 500 cm³ of water, concentration is 30 g/dm³
  • Formula triangle

Used to rearrange the concentration formula to find mass or volume if concentration is known
  • When measuring something, there is always some uncertainty in the measurement
