  • DOG BREEDS​
    • The first school that trained police dogs was opened in 1889 at Ghent in Belgium.​
    • Pioneer police dogs were the Belgian Shepherd.​There are different jobs a police dog can do:​
    • Public order enforcement​
    • Illicit substance detection​
    • Tracking​
    • Cadaver searching​
    • Note that some police forces only use one breed of dog for every one of these tasks rather than using one breed for tracking and another for illegal substance detection.​
    • The job of these dogs is to chase after a fleeing suspect and hold him for officers, or detain suspects from some action by threat of the dog being released.​
  • AKITA INU​
    • Is a large spitz breed dog originating from the mountainous Northern agencies of Japan.​
    • There are two separate of varieties of Akita: a Japanese Strain, known as the “Akita Inu” or “Japanese Akita”, and an American Strain, known as the “Akita” or “American Akita”​
  • DUTCH SHEPHERD​
    • Is a herding dog of Ditch Origin. They were used by shepherds and farmers who needed a versatile dog, a jack-of-all-trades, with few demands and able to adapt to a harsh and meager existence.​
  • MALINOIS BELGIAN SHEPHERD​
    • Its name is the French word for Mechlinian, which is in Dutch either Mechelse Herdershond or Mechelar (one from Mechelen). 
  • MALINOIS BELGIAN SHEPHERD​
    • It is used as a working dog for tasks iluding detection of odors such as explosives, accelerants (for arson investigation), and narcotics; tracking of humans for suspect apprehension in police work; search and rescue.​
