    • Participate actively to school's response drill/simulation.

    • Monitor through radio or other reliable sources the latest official report of PAGASA
    • When the house is no longer safe, evacuate
    • Stay indoors & stay away from windows
    • Keep an open-line communication with relatives that are not affected
    • Ensure that members of the family will remain calm and keep them informed
  • Typhoon (Rehabilitation)
    • Help in attending the victims immediately.
    • In case of major cuts, seek medical assistance
    • Help in checking the house for damages
    • Coordinate with barangay officials
  • Thunderstorms (Preparedness)
    • Develop a Family Preparedness Plan incase of severe thunderstorm
    • Discuss how you would know if a thunderstorm may produce a tornado
    • Discuss how to be warned of an approaching thunderstorm
    • Recommend trimming and removal of dead/rotting trees
    • Secure outdoor objects that could be blown away

    • Learn to do the lightning safety positions & stay away from structures
    • Carefully watch out for falling debris
    • Stay Calm
    • Postpone all outdoor activities
    • Unplug/turn off all electronics
    • Turn off ac/television and stay off the phone
    • Choose and move to a safe place in your house (lowest floor)
  • Lightning is hotter than the surface of the Sun & can reach temperatures around 50,000 degrees F
  • Tornado (Preparedness)
    • Develop a preparedness plan for family
    • Have periodic drills with the members of the family
    • Inspect pre-designated areas to ensure protection
    • Keep an open-line communication
    • Listen to the radio & television
    • Store flashlights & back-up batteries
  • Tornado (Response)
    • Move to a pre-designated area/interior on the lowest floor & get under a sturdy piece of furniture
    • Stay away from windows
    • Lie flat in a depression if caught outside
  • Tornado (Rehabilitation)
    • Attend to survivors
    • Check the house for damages/losses
    • Coordinate with proper authorities
  • Flood & Flash Flood (Preparedness)
    • Find out the frequency occurance of floods in locality
    • Know the flood warning system
    • Research from previous occurences how fast the water floods occur
    • If it has been raining hard for several days/hours, be alert for the possibility of flood
    • Watch out for rapidly rising water & help prepare the family for evacuation
    • Switch off the electricity & lock the rooms
    • Have a handy survival kit.

    • Stay calm & updated
    • Listen continuously to radio
    • Do not attempt to cross flowing streams unless assured that the water is below knee level
    • Avoid areas prone to flooding
    • Do not go into swimming/boating in swollen rivers
    • Watch out for snakes in flooded areas
    • Eat only well cooked foods & drink only clean/preferably boiled water

    • Report broken utility lines immediately
    • Ensure that electrical appliances are checked before turning on
    • Avoid affected areas
    • Continue to listen to radio/local tv stations
    • Stay away from any building that are still flooded
  • Storm Surge (Preparedness)
    • Know the storm surge risk zones & identify safe grounds
    • Be alert & stay away from steep, high coastal areas which are prone to landslides
    • Switch off power supply
    • Stay on the inland side away from the potential flow of water
    • If caught in a storm surge, take hold of large boulders that can provide protection

    • Do not eat fresh food that come in contact with flood water
    • Drinking water should be submitted to proper authorities for checking
    • Check damage of the house
    • Check house for electrical damage & open line wires
    • Help clean all mud and debris
