Atoms

• An atom is the basic building blocks of all matter
• Atoms are made up of

  Electrons

  Protons

  Neutrons
• The nucleus of an atoms holds the protons and neutrons together
• Protons are positively charged particles that is located at the center of the atom in the nucleus
• Electrons are negatively charged particles that orbit the outside of the nucleus
• If an atom has the same number of protons and electrons in an atom, that atom has a neutral charge
• Neutron doesn't have any charge (neither positive nor negative). They stabilize the nucleus
• Electronic configuration is the distribution of electrons in the shell of an atom
