  • Time refers to a dance's rhythm, pulse, speed, and cut short of movements. A dance performance has its beginning and end.
  • Space refers to the area where a dancer performs and how he or she moves through the area.
  • Things to consider in a stage performance
    • Use varied dance steps to keep the audience engaged
    • Execute properly the movements
    • Use rhythm to change movements, when meant to be fast or slow
    • Use movement to emphasize elements in music
    • Use space properly in a dance area. Do not just stay in the middle of the stage; use the different areas or the space of the stage either upstage or downstage
    • Memorize steps by practicing multiple times
    • Dance with feelings and interpret the music
  • Costume, Mask, Makeup & Accessories
    These comprise the visual effects, of which the main function is to enhance visibility and aesthetic value. They help make the character appear realistic according to the role he/she portrays.

  • El Gamma Penumbra
    All-male group from Tanauan, Batangas. This group was founded in the year 2008 as a hip-hop boy group. They performed shadow play on Pilipinas Got Talent.
  • Tawag Ng Tanghalan Boys

    Three teen artists who were finalists in Tawag ng Tanghalan Kids edition contest in 2017. Their rendition of the song "Listen" became viral.
  • Tragedy is a dramatic play portraying the struggle of a strong-willed protagonist against fate, as predestined by mysterious, divine, social, or psychological forces, culminating in disaster and usually caused by a flaw in the protagonist's character.

  • Sarswela – 3 act melodrama, where both pieces are sung and spoken. Part of PH history and used to fight colonization. 
    1. Epic poetry – pre-colonial period during  festivals was considered the highest form of Fil. folk literature. Usual topics of romance and adventure. 
  • Duplo – poetic debate through song and dance from indigenous courtship customs using proverbs and riddles to present their suit
  • Moro-moro – depicts conflicts between Moros and Christians with themes of love,vengeance, and religion
  • Senakulo – passion play, the dramatization of life and death of Jesus Christ during Holy Week
  • Traditional folk dance – Oldest form of theater, reflect the lives of people in certain regions
  • Bodabil
    •  “Vaudeville” of American origin, became Filipino “Bodabil”
    • Variety show consisting of musical numbers + comedic and dramatic skits
    • Popularized by Dolphy, Anita Linda, and Atang dela Rama
  • Body – used to create forms, lines, and shapes to express emotions

    • Done in place (locomotor) or changing in location (non-locomotor)
