  • Homes were visited every month for the first year and again at 18 months
  • Mothers were asked how the babies reacted when they were left alone
  • 25-32 weeks old
    • 50% separation anxiety towards the mother
  • 40 weeks
    • 80% babies displayed specific attachment
    • 30% showed multiple attachment
  • Stage 1 - Asocial
    Forming bonds with familiar adults
  • Stage 2 - Indiscriminate
    Showing more social behaviour and comfort, but don't show separation anxiety

    Showing separation anxiety when seated from primary attachment figure
