  • G1- acoustically similar words- (similar sounding), G2- acoustically dissimilar, G3- (semantically similar)- words with similar meanings, G4- (semantically dissimilar),
  • When pps were shown the words and had to recall them in the correct order immediately (STM recall) they tended to do worse with acoustically similar words
  • If pps recalled the words after 20 mins, they did worse with semantically similar words, info is semantically coded in the LTM
  • Artificial stimuli- Baddeley's research is highly artificial, doesn't use meaningful material- just words
  • Baddeley's method of researching memory has no personal meaning to pps (the words)
  • Need to be cautious in generalising the findings
  • Limited application
