G1- acoustically similar words- (similar sounding), G2- acoustically dissimilar, G3- (semantically similar)- words with similar meanings, G4- (semantically dissimilar),
When pps were shown the words and had to recall them in the correct order immediately (STM recall) they tended to do worse with acoustically similar words
If pps recalled the words after 20 mins, they did worse with semantically similar words, info is semantically coded in the LTM
Artificial stimuli- Baddeley's research is highly artificial, doesn't use meaningful material- just words
Baddeley's method of researching memory has no personal meaning to pps (the words)
