• Memory of factual info and meaning of the world, knowing what something is
• For example knowing what the capital of france is and naming important landmarks there
• It is declarative memory- meaning we can recall the memory consciously
• Not very resistant to forgetting as people often forget many acts that they have learnt.
• associated with the left prefrontal cortex of the brain
