• No laws for desegregation in place, campaign protesters made leaflets referencing the American Dream
• Arrests were made to fill jails
• Bull Connor chief of police sent high press fire hoses and dogs to shut down chaos
• Kennedy sent more federal troops to calm down riots
• Birmingham was desegregated
