MICROSCOPES AND CELLS

Cards (15)

  • eukaryotic cells= plants and animals
  • animals and plants have: cell membrane, nucleus, mitochondria, cytoplasm, ribosomes
  • plants only: chloroplasts, vacuole, cell wall
  • prokaryotic cells= bacteria
  • bacteria has: mitochondria, ribosomes, flagellum, plasmids, cells wall
  • light microscope- cheap, see outline of cells
  • electron microscopes- see finer details including sub cellular structures, greater resolution and magnification
  • coarse focus= used to focus low, medium and high objective lens
  • fine focus- used for high lens
  • objective lens= x4, x10, x40
  • IAM triangle
  • CP: peel onion tissue with tweezers
  • CP: add a drop of water to clean slide place onion tissue on slide
  • CP: add a drop of iodine to stain cell structures so they can be observed
  • CP: place cover slip ontop of specimen
