Sarcomere

• The span of one z-line to another 2.5 micrometers, it reduces when the muscle contracts.
• The A-band will not change length during contraction.
• Thin filaments are made of actin.
• Thick filaments are made myosin.
• When muscle contraction occurs, the thin actin filaments will slide over the thick myosin filaments.
• The sarcomere will shorten which decreases the overall size of the muscle.
