  • Describe two social policies aimed at raising boys achievement in education. (4)
    Reading Champions is a literacy program from the National Literacy Trust which targets reluctant readers by using famous people and role models sharing their reading interests to inspire boys to read.
    Playing for success was a numeracy, literacy and ICT programme aimed at disaffected and underachieving key stage 2 and 3 boys, which included after school programs based at sports grounds such as football and rugby clubs.
  • Raising Boys Achievement in Education (2000 – 2004) worked on issues related to boys and girls performing differently at KS2 and KS4 in English schools.
    Dad’s and Son’s (2002) mainly targets the dads of 11-14-year-old boys. Its fundamental aims are to help dads get more involved in their sons' education and to get the media talking about the issues relating to dads engaging in their sons' educations.
