  • Tips on Basic Dribbling

    1. Use fingertips, never palm
    2. Dribble on side of body, never on front

    5. Look up when dribbling, not on ground
    6. When switching from 1 hand to other, bounce ball across hard and quick
    7. When changing direction, shift momentum of body towards that direction

    1. Half-bent knees before shooting for more potential power
    2. Spread out fingers of dominant hand
    3. Only fingertips should grip onto ball
    4. Other hand supports ball on side
    5. Bring ball above head in 1 motion
    6. Angles of armpit, elbow, and wrist at 90 degrees
    7. Extend knees, forearm, wrist
    8. Follow through with your wrist. Feels natural to jump on release
  • Tips on Shooting

    • Always track distance of you and hoop
    • Tuck elbows inward towards each other
    • Shoot in an arc, increases accuracy
    • Aim at part inside rim farthest from you
    • Use screens and offensive plays to get open
    • Square up shooting hand with hoop
    • Grip ball tight with thumb and little finger
    • Aim with index or middle only
    • Never hesitate

    One player throws the ball to another player with a purpose of setting up a play or taking a shot

    1. A good pass is a pass a teammate can catch
    2. When passing, step toward your receiver
    3. When catching, step toward the pass
    4. Like shooting, the ball should have a backspin to it. Accomplished by following through on every pass

    3. Use wet towels or water mist on skin
    4. Don't drink alcoholic and caffeinated drinks

  • Offense Rules

    • Ball must be bounced, dribbled with 1 hand while both feet are moving. If both hands touch the ball at the same moment or the player stops dribbling, the player can only move 1 foot. Motionless foot is called Pivot Foot
    • Players are only allowed to dribble once. If a player resumes, they are charged with a double-dribbling infraction and loses possession of the ball to the other side.
