Oxidative muscle fibres are similar in structure to slow twitch as they contain many mitochondria and blood capillaries but can hydrolyse ATP more quickly (contracting quicker as a result)
Oxidative muscle fibres are relatively resistant to fatigue.
Glycolytic muscle fibres have less myoglobin, few mitochondria and few capillaries.
Glycolytic fibres have a large concentration of glycogen which provides energy for anaerobic respiration.
Glycolytic fibres contract rapidly but will tire quickly.
